Glittery opinion

Put 20,000 students in an area the size of a postage stamp, charge them exorbitant rents for substandard, freezing accommodation (total dives) and then abuse the crap out of all students without thought when a minority of them act like total losers? . . . It's a joke. I mean, what do people expect? This weekend in Dunedin was like groundhog day. Sure, bring the full force of the law against the brick throwing idiots. We don't want them in Dunedin or at Otago Uni, they've simply got to take responsibility for their own actions and removing the diversion option when they appear in court is a very good move. But don't tar everyone (students!) with the same brush. Let's turn the spotlight on exploitative landlords and those who feast vampirically on the student dollar. How do they escape attention time after time? I work with students every day and it saddens me to hear uninformed voices - many of whom have never set foot in Castle Street - maligning them, such as is currently happening once again.?

Students rock. I won't make excuses for the small minority of bad ones, but boy oh glittery boy I'll defend the reputation of the far more numerous good ones.

Glitter on ya, students.?
